Born and raised in Brazil, Mariana Topfstedt studied photography in the bustling city of Sao Paulo. It was there where she began her career as a freelance photojournalist, with her work being published on news websites, newspapers, and national and international magazines. As she delved deeper into photojournalism, her love for street photography grew stronger. She believed that by capturing the streets and the people of her city, she was able to step outside of her own bubble and learn from the stories and experiences of others. Her passion for photography continued to grow, and she constantly pushed herself to learn more and improve her craft. She moved to Canada and here she discovered new ways to present her photography, focusing on personal projects and using her intuition and daily experiences to bring attention to relevant themes that make us reflect on the world we live in and our individual and collective roles within it. Through her photography, Mariana aims to provoke thought and inspire change. She continues to learn and evolve as a photographer, always seeking new ways to express herself and bring attention to the issues that matter.
