Gillian Schultze

Gillian Schultze is a Sudbury-based Canadian landscape and multi-media artist, often depicting the trees, rocks, birds, and waters that are iconic of Northern Ontario. With a strikingly unique style all her own, Gillian has had a number of solo and group exhibitions, and has taken part in juried art shows across Ontario.  Most recently, she won the Emerging Artist of the Year in the 2020 Celebration of the Arts in Greater Sudbury, and was featured on CBC and by local and provincial media. She is inspired by the ebb and flow of the seasons often using up-cycled and new materials from vintage tapestries, reused cloth and natural fibres in her textile art.  Her works reflect a natural freedom drawn from nature's unpredictability.  Through her work she hopes to advocate for the protection of our wilderness areas in the province by raising awareness of the sheer beauty of those spaces. Her works hang in both private homes and institutions.
