Based in Toronto, Canada, Sharlena Wood is a consummate artist, inspired by a deep connection to the natural world. Her works of art have been both exhibited and published in Canada as well as commissioned and privately collected. Sharlena's unique artistic signature in mixed media includes a fascination with line and values, unusual tools, and a penchant for breaking rules. Her creative process is informed by what she sees in the landscape and through the intimacy of painting ‘en plein air'. Past series featuring trees, forest fires and endangered animals, and the preservation and sanctity of Mother Earth, are themes that run throughout much of Sharlena's work. The inspiration for her current series is photographs of earth taken and shared by astronaut Chris Hadfield. Sharlena is also a popular art teacher and lecturer at educational conferences in Canada and the United States where she shares her passion through art instruction and creative projects with the artistic community.
